Certificate is 9” x 12”. Blackprint with ornate borders. Beautiful vignettes: very large sceneshowing the C...ity of Stockton on the San Juaquin River delta withSierra Nevada mountains in the background and a busy port scene –certificate shows four of the companies ships – the J. D. Peters, the Mary Garratt, the T. C. Walker and the J. P. McDonald in theforeground. Small vignette with a sidewheel steamboat lower center.

These waterways were majortransportation corridors beginning in the mid 19th century when theCalifornia Gold Rush began in 1849.
