C1910 GILT TOKEN - PAUPA & HOCHRIEM CHICAGO - PISTOL SHOOTING ARCADE GAME IMAGE

Item History & Price

Information:
Reference Number: Avaluer:10005393
Original Description:
This very hard-to-find (if not rare) token dating to approximately 1900-1910 has an image of a counter-top trade stimulator named "The Manila" - a pistol-type shooting range arcade game (shown in first photo).  [This seller has owned a very similar token that had the name of the company (Paupa & Hochriem, Chicago) on the reverse, and it appears that this token is from the same company.]  The third photo (for comparison only) shows a similar game (with the same name) from ...a different company (Mills Novelty).  [The Mills game has a round 'shooting gallery, ' but the one on this token has a flat-sided gallery, typical of Paupa & Hochriem.]  The image of the device is very clear, with the textured grip, hammer, and trigger of the pistol quite clear, along with other details.  The reverse side names the machine and has the words 3RD PRIZE (perhaps indicating that this actually was a 'hidden' slot machine or other gambling game?).  This token was struck very well, with excellent detail in the image and very bold lettering.  There is no mark for manufacturer or metal content, but the composition is a non-magnetic metal (likely brass), with a very bright light gilt surface treatment (almost totally remaining).  The diameter is approximately 23 mm (7/8").This is a fascinating token for which there is a lack of definite information, and it would be a great addition to any collection relating to slot machines, arcade games, and trade stimulators. This token is in extremely fine condition, with no apparent actual wear, signs of handling, some toning, and very limited soiling.  The gilt surface mostly remains, and this token has a very nice, very bright gold color. The first two illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description.  NOTE:  The actual token is lighter in color (with a very good gold color), much brighter, and much more attractive than evident in the photos.Payment must be received within ten days of close of auction.  In compliance with eBay's payment policy, payment may be made only by PayPal.  Shipping (First Class Mail with Tracking and Delivery Confirmation), $4.00 in the U. S.  Shipping to addresses outside the U. S. using USPS First Class Mail International, $15.00.  PLEASE NOTE:  The U. S. Postal Service has increased its rates considerably!  International shipments sometimes are delayed by customs in the countries of receipt, and delivery sometimes takes 2-3 months!  The seller is not responsible for safe delivery outside the U. S. because tracking is not available.  Combined shipping on multiple purchases is available.INTERNATIONAL BUYERS - PLEASE NOTE:·         Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.·         Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.  These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.·         We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.Due to the seller's work schedule, trips to the Post Office can be made only when possible.  Shipments usually are made within one or two business days of receipt of payment - and always are made within three to four business days of receipt of payment. Please check out my other items!THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!
