The series 1899 One Dollar Silver Certificate, called affectionately, The Black Eagle, is the second most common large size note. The Eagle of the Capitol shelters the portraits of Lincoln and Grant, based on photographs by Mathew Brady. The Black Eagle notes were the first to feature the Treasury seal in blue instead of red. The note was printed from 1899 into the 1920’s and was replaced by the 1923 series note. This note was part of the last series of ...Silver Certificates issued in the 1800s. These “horse blankets, ” or large-size notes, date back 150 years and are more than half an inch taller and an inch longer than today’s bills. This note is regarded as one of the last intricately designed U.S. currency notes. This is the only US currency bill featuring two Presidents on the front.This particular note is signed by Lyons and Treat. This note also comes with a beautiful glass top display.
