Sony D-555 Discman D555 Digital CD Player - Vintage Audiophile - Parts or Repair
Rare Audiophile D-555 Model.
Discman is not working.
The unit powers on and rotates the disc. It makes some skipping/grinding noises, and the Display light flickers, before powering down.
Includes OEM battery, which likely needs to be refurbished.
I have been in contact with Ebay Seller "KAOSUNCD".
He has a battery refurbishment service for... $59,
wherein this original Lead Acid type battery would receive a modified core and effectively become a Lithium Ion type.
You may do an Ebay search to find his service if you so desire.
He has also stated that all of the D-555 issues present in this model can be fixed via his $120 refurbishment service.
Having decided to auction off my D-555, I've decided to leave any potential repairs to the buyer,
in the event that you are technically inclined yourself. Unit is sold AS IS
Discman has light to moderate wear from handling, as seen in photos.
It looks much more slick in person. I've done my best to highlight any dings and scratches here.
Also includes an aftermarket power adapter of the correct voltage and amperage.
