ART NOUVEAU DECORATED SLIM, SOLID SILVER CARD CASE - BIRMINGHAM 1909 - 1.59 ozt ART NOUVEAU DECORATED SLIM, SOLID SILVER CARD CASE - BIRMINGHAM 1909 - 1.59 ozt This is a great looking Art Nouveau decorated slim, solid silver card case as pictured. It has a period monogram in the cartouche front, centre and a gilt interior.I have cut a piece of paper to check and it will accept business or calling ca...rds sized up to approximately 3" by 1.5".The rectangular case has been assayed during 1909 by Jones & Crompton of Spencer Street, Birmingham; subsequently Harford Street, Birmingham as pictured.Measuring approximately 8.5cm tall by 5cm wide and just 8mm deep when closed. The case weighs 49.7 grams or 1.59 troy oz. The hinge is in good working order. The lid opens and closes with a snap just as it should and it will not fall open accidentally. There are the typical light, faint scuffs and minor scratches and depressions around the bodywork that all silver objects such as this tend to attract over the years. In addition there are a couple of shallow edge dings on the lid, probably caused when the case has been dropped at some time. That said there is nothing really nasty or serious to report as you can see. A good polish will no doubt further restore former gloryThis very attractive and little case is being offered here in a used antique condition, exactly as pictured and with no reserve.
