ISLE OF MAN: 2015 5 Crowns, only 99 minted, 5 troy ounces of .925 silver proof + capsule - top grade (my ref. 450.29)This beautiful coin was struck to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II becoming the "Longest Reigning Monarch" on 9th September 2015 (beating Queen Victoria, her great-great grandmother). These large silver coins (quite often for the Channel islands and Isle of Man) have been struck in a number of years since around 2001 but very few... of them are shown in the catalogues. I have had a number of different examples over the years and often with a mint certificate (no certificate with this coin). They usually have mintages well below 1, 000 coins and were usually struck in .925 silver (with 4.6245 troy ounces of fine silver) but a few dates seem to have been struck in .999 silver (with 5 troy ounces of fine silver) but this needs to confirmed. The coins which are shown in Krause or Coin Yearbook mostly have values between £200 and £350. Mintmark: PM = Pobjoy Mint.I had a mint certificate with the previous example that I sold of this coin and show the specifications below. It had a mintage of only 450 coins.It has a diameter of 65 mm, weighs 155.53 grams (5 troy ounces), was struck in .925 silver and contains the equivalent 4.6245 troy ounces of fine silver. It is a proof with frosted relief.There was some reflection from the large surfaces during photography. It comes in a large plastic capsule (no certificate and no box).The coin and the capsule are in excellent condition.Please note that this is a higher value coin and I must use tracked and registered postal services.Generalinformation: I do not use coin grading terms but I provide exactimages of each item to help you decide upon the condition yourself.
