I dont know much about model trains other than this one is super easy to set up for first time users and the transformer really gives a professional touch. We bought this for our son and it has been professionally stored in the closet. We need to get this to someone who can enjoy it. I did set it up and run it again. Smoke, lights, and sounds work. I didnt see any issues on anything. It will not ship with any oil, smoke or grease. The first recipients of the Medal of Honor were awarded... for their heroic service during the US Civil War. This set honors the very first recipient of the award, Jacob Parrot, who participated in the capture of a Confederated locomotive.
