Antique Highly Carved Wood Gothic Medieval Head Faceon Serpent/Cobra Snake Body Salvage Remnant To me looks like somemedieval head attached to a Cobra snake body. This is an interesting gothic/medievalpiece of wood carved salvage/remnant possibly from a very old piece offurniture. I’ve had it for years with intention to make a wall shelf/hook outof it but never got to it. There is a portion of veryold screws. One at bottom and one at top of piece. My gues...s is the old screws were use to repair this piece andperhaps not original to furniture it may have been part of. This salvage is very old. It weighs approx 1 lb 14ozs. The detail on the face isindescribably detailed and shows master workmanship. I have no idea what you call this face/head but Iwould give it guess of an age of approx 125-150 years old or even older. This piece is full of detailwith hand carved pillar like ridge, scrolling and vine like carving attop. The face. The face is so evillooking. It even has tiny carvedevil looking teeth, deep inset eyes and facial structure with nose, just theentire face and head is so detailed and the work of a master craftsman/artist. Has a little bit of missingshallow splinting at bottom of piece, some wear of finish in the curled portionof scroll on both sides, Some minor wear here and there but this piece issolid. There’s so much detail that I can best depict in the images. Please see images as theyserve as part of the description. Overall very good shape for its age No flaws/breaks on face andhead that I can see. I’ve provided some images ofmeasurements to give better idea of scale. Basic Measurements: Length from tip of head to bottom pointapprox 26 3/4”, Width left to right at widest point at top where nail is 5”, Width at second scroll atwidest point 4 ½”. Length at portion with ridges (measured from below head infront left to right at 4 different points) Length below head 2”, then1 ½”, 1 ¼”, 1” respectively. Nice display piece or upcycle for a conversation piece!
