Vintage Chinese handmade copper or brass dragon, may have been enameled or gold leaf/gilt on the tail. Individual scales on the side are bright blue under all the age. This was made of possibly copper or bronze sheet metal, then cut out and soldered together to make the entire dragon. The design was hammered into the flat plate first then formed in sections into the shape of the dragon. His head comes off, but appears to be originally soldered into place. Someone, p...ossibly Grandmother, tried to glue the head on with a clear soft glue. We removed some of the soft glue and there were brighter blue scales underneath. The prehistoric saw back ridge on his back looks to also have been covered in gilt or maybe gold leaf. The sculpture is 12" long from tip of toes to end of tail. It's about 6" high at the top of the tail. It weighs about 10 ounces. A really interesting piece for sure. I don't know if it should be cleaned to bring out the color or left alone to show the age.
