DESCRIPTION: This is an identified CDV of a Union soldier from the Civil War. He is Sgt Elihu Wilson Holeman (1842-1909).
He enlisted on August 17, 1862 as a Private in "H" Co. 12th Indiana Infantry. He was promoted to Corporal June 30, 1863, and promoted again to Sergeant March 12, 1864. On August 6th 1864 he was wounded in an event following the Battle of Ezra Church, Jul 28, 1864. He mustered out on June 8 1865 at Washington, D.C. In later years he became the Just...ice of the Peace in Petersville, Indiana. Sgt Holeman appears to have inscribed and signed the back of the CDV on the bottom:

The CDV measures about 3 3/4 inches high X 2 3/8 inches wide X xxx inches deep. CONDITION:
This CDV is dirty, has bumped corners, and a couple of small nicks into the photo above the head. See Photos This CDV is old, used, and in as-is, as-found, estate condition.
