The Loyal Order of Moose is a ...fraternal and service organization founded in 1888 and headquartered in Mooseheart, (somehow, I don't think that name is coincidental) Illinois. It has about 1 million men as members, in roughly 2, 400 Lodges, in all 50 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces and Bermuda. It has an associated female organization, Women of the Moose, with more than 400, 000 members in roughly 1, 600 Chapters in the same areas. There is also a Loyal Order of Moose in Britain. These organizations together make up the Moose International.
Pryor, please see the map below, began with Captain Nathaniel Hale Pryor, who was married to an Osage woman and served as an agent to the Osage people. He established a trading post on Grand River. A Post Office was established naming the town "Coo-y-yah" the Cherokee name for "huckleberry, " Indian Territory. In 1887, Coo-y-yah was changed to Pryor Creek, but the "Creek" was dropped in 1909. Today Pryor is home to about 9, 000 folks.
