S. coins and currency, Lincoln Gold & Coin is pleased to offer this fascinating 60 cents fractional currency banknote dated April 14, 1862 issued by the State of Virginia - City of Richmond. Issued during the early days of the Civil War, this note was payable in current Confederate currency. Out of necessity due to the North's embargo of imported paper, this bank note was over... printed on a sheet of uncut $5 banknotes issued circa 1855 by the the Rappahannock Bank of Tappahnnock, Virginia. We photographed this note against a neutral background under natural lighting to assist you with your evaluation. Additionally the photos zoom in quite well allowing you to view this note under extreme magnification. Most of the 60 cent notes are Uniface with a blank reverse. This is a scarce overprint Civil War era note and is just part of a larger collection of coins and currency available online and at our store in Northern California.
