Original Description:
Id'd Civil War Officer's Frock Coat . Id'd by very faint name inked in breast pocket. The coat has the features required in an original frock coat including pockets in tails, unhemmed at bottom, padded & quilted chest area etc. All buttons are period but one was replaced as it was missing. Frock was worn by 2nd Lt. Joseph Bucher of the 78th & 102nd New York Infantry. Bucher served from Dec. 1861 through July 1865 as Private, Corporal, Sergeant and at the very end of the war as ...2nd Lt.  Bucher is shown in picture (copy) wearing this or a similar frock coat. These units had a very good record serving first in "the east" and later in "the west" including Lookout Mountain fighting at the Craven House. This is an opportunity to own a uniform that has been there and done that worn by a soldier who served for years. Archival materials are Included with the coat. This coat is original. Please see all pictures which may answer questions as to condition which I would judge as good for a coat that was actually worn in service.
