This unusual crock pitcher was an estate find in Greene County, Tennessee. The older gentleman that I purchased it from was cleaning out is mother’s house after she had passed. He said it had been sitting on the bookshelf as long as he could remember and he seemed to be in his 60s. I can only assume it’s Tennessee considering most everything in the house was local, family heirlooms, and just good old quality pieces of furniture. The pitcher is mint, aside from two small chips as sh...own in the pictures. One kiln scar on the front which is noticeable. Looks like it was actually meant to have an orange glaze as you can see it in spots around the handle and rim. Could have got too hot or burnt during production causing it to blacken. Fairly heavy for its size. Great ovoid form, glazed bottom. This is an absolutely beautiful, well made pitcher. It’s only my speculation that it’s East Tennesseee ( Greene / Washington / Sullivan County Tn ) maybe. But bid at your own discretion and use your own best judgment. Pictures don’t do it justice. Those highlights of orange really glow in the light and sun.
