Hello, up for auction is a rare antique circa 1900 French medical collectible device bloodletting scarificator with 10 cutting blades. Spring loaded. Made of nickel plated brass with steel blades. All working with single action the lever must locked manually when load.
Used as more modern equivalent for leeches in the practice of blood letting, the scarificator was used to make quick incisions into the patient’s skin during the practice of wet cupping. A glass cup would&...nbsp;then collect the blood and was seen as a way in which to prevent or cure illness.This medical item is intended only for the collection!!!
