Vintage Bone & Bamboo Mah Jong Set in Wooden Case / Box - 152 Tiles ... Click images to enlarge Description This is a terrific Bone and Bamboo Mah Jong set in a nicely fitted wooden case / box. The tiles are approximately smaller than standard measuring approximately: 17mm W x 23mm L x 10mm D, allowing storage of 144 tiles in 2 trays. The set has 152 Main Tiles. Including 4 Horse Jokers. Nice neat set with unusual Season/ Flower tiles. Leaving 8 to be stored in the centre compartment. The dimensions of the box is approximately 26cm W X 36cm L x 5cm D. As to the age going by the enclosed book I would hazard a guess at the late fifties, but it may be a bit older.The full contents of the set consists of: 36 Circle Tile 36 Bamboo Tiles 36 Character Tiles 16 Wind Tiles 12 Dragon Tiles (White Dragons Blank) 8 'Flower/Season' Tiles 4 Blank Tiles 4 Horse Jokers 4 4 red plastic Wind discs 4 Bone Dice Bundle of bone counting sticks Max Robertson's 'The Game of Mahjong' Instruction Manual. This has been a respected, and looks like little used set. As far as I can see the tiles all look to be in good order. Have had a superficial wipe, but would benefit from a further clean. The box is a nice well made example, but is in need of some TLC, has some scratches here and there. When opened the box had a musty smell, the condition of the tiles and material fittings of the box are unaffected. Hopefully a weeks air in an airfreshened environment will do the trick and make it aroma free.I have posted numerous photographs - please have a look and judge for yourself as to condition and completeness - sold as per photos.
