On offer is an A C Wells & Co unbreakable cast iron wick lamp that has been painted black. I'm not sure how old this is but think it is probably early 1900s. I've tried to do some research on this but have only been able to find the industrial style Wells lamps. I think this one looks more like a household lamp but I could be wrong. Please look carefully at all the pictures as they form part of the item description.The lamp measures about 10cm (excluding handle) across the top, and the diameter of the base is 6.5cm. The overall height is approx. 11.5cm (7cm plus the brass wick holder). It weighs almost 600gms.The lamp is nicely detailed making it more decorative than any of the other Wells lamps I have seen. The brass fittings are good and the cap for the top of the wick holder is still attached to its chain. The winder won't work and I think it is probably a bit bent. Hopefully that could be rectified but I haven't tried. There is no wick in the lamp but there is still wadding inside. Stamped around the outside of the lamp is "A C WELLS & Co. WELLS UNBREAKABLE LAMP". There are no other marks or model numbers that I can see.Despite the minor fault this is a lovely vintage piece that displays really well. It will make a good addition to any collection. !!!Please look at all the pictures as they form part of the item description!!!
