WWII Glass Iron VERY RARE Clear Saunders Model 1038
Today we have for sale a very rare Pirex glass handle iron form the WWII years. These irons were made for only a few years as a result of a metal shortage as most of the countries metal resources were being diverted to the production of military equipment. In order to circumvent this shortage the created this beautifully designed iron with vibrant colors on the inside of the glass giving them an incredible style. Unfortunately prod...uction of these irons ceased after the war had concluded as there was no longer a shortage in metal meaning they were only in production for a few years. Given the short time frame that they were made and tendency for the paint to come off of the interior glass, pristine units are incredibly rare. We found a lot of five units, ranging in condition, in Golden, Colorado at an estate sale of a collector of these items. You have here, a chance to purchase a beautiful piece of history and a great story that indicates the effects the war had on the United States.
Excellent used condition. This clear unit has scratches and marks on the metal plate. Glass is a little dirty. See pictures for details. The reason it is clear, we believe is because the paint has been taken out which reflects in the price.

While we do have a focus, we will list anything we get our hands on that has value, so you will find some random crazy stuff that may not fit into our typical wheelhouse. Prices are negotiable. We carry a lot of vintage collectible items that are hard to buy without actually holding the item in your own hand and we are not the most descriptive people in the world. You're basically only going to get what the item is and it's condition to the best of our knowledge. We mainly rely on pictures and it should be noted that the pictures ARE a part of the description. If you do not have enough information to make an educated purchase decision, please do not hesitate to ask questions or request more pictures. We are always happy to accommodate those requests.
We do everything humanly possible to have our item shipped by the next business day, however, sometimes things get tied up. Please realize we are human just like everyone else. Depending on the destination and order quantity we may use a different shipping method or service. Please note that regardless of shipping method your package will arrive on or before the expected delivery date. If you purchase multiple items we will combine the items and refund you the savings. If you want to make sure we do not miss your multiple purchases, feel free to give us a heads up but we usually catch it without notification.
Returns are accepted up to 30 days after receipt only if the item is in it's original condition. We do not pay return shipping or refund the original shipping charge. Being a small business returns are very difficult for us, therefore we will be charging a 10% restocking fee on all returns. If the item is returned and is not in it's original condition a partial refund will be offered based on the resale value of that condition. Example, we sell many collectible items that are far more valuable if the item is still factory sealed. If you receive an item that was factory sealed and has since been opened it may have lost a significant amount of value as an opened item and you will receive the average resell price of the open item.
If you live in a place where crime can be a problem and there is a chance that an item could be stolen at the delivery destination, please request to require a signature upon arrival. We use tracking services through all delivery services to confirm that all packages have been delivered. We do not take responsibility for stolen items. Requiring a signature is a great way to ensure that your package is delivered into your hands. Please note: fees will be assessed on all items purchased under $29.99 if signature is requested (usually $3 to $4).
It is the buyers responsibility to ensure that the shipping address is correct. Our default shipping is USPS ground. If you are shipping to an address, the Post Office must have the NAME that you are using tied to that address or it will be returned to us. In the event that we have a package returned you will have the option of 1) we will re-ship the item to you at the cost of the return shipping plus the new shipping charge, or 2) we will refund you for the item less the original shipping cost, the return shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
Items that are "Sold As Is" are sold as items with defects or items that we do not have the ability or expertise to test. You are purchasing these items fully knowing that that the sale is final. These items can not be returned as a defective item because we have stated that you are purchasing them as a defective item. In extreme cases, we are willing to make a partial refund, if the defects are far more severe that were known at listing, mainly as courtesy, because we want our customers to be happy. Just send us a message and we will talk about it.
Almost every one of our items are "Or Best Offer", this means that we are willing to accept lower prices for many of the items that we offer. It should be noted that we automatically accept bids that meet our criteria. That being said any messages included in the bid that states that you are looking for free shipping will not be honored and we will not cancel those orders. In order to cancel these orders it must go through an unpaid item claim. If you want to pay a specific price including shipping subtract the shipping from the price you want to pay and if it is an acceptable price your bid will be accepted if it is not it will not be accepted.
