teapot, globular-shaped, with a low curved spout, two opposing ears for the overhead metal handle, a deep turquoise green body featuring on each side a deep rose pink ogival medallion enclosing a phoenix in flight among large blue and pink peony blossoms, the base with a border of stylized lotus petals in pink and yellow, the shoulder with a row of alternating lotus blossom and the eight budhist symbols on a pink ground, a domed lid with knob and a single steam hole, also decorated wi...th pink and blue peony sprays and a surrounding row of the eight budhist symbols on pink ground. Base with a Xushunchang Zao factory mark. Size is approx. 8" wide x 7" tall including handle.Condition is good, no cracks, no chips no hairlines. Inside of teapot is a clean white.There are signs of use and age, with some wear to the enamels.Please note: On the back of the teapot there is one flaw, and looks to have been painted over by the original artist, see photo # 5, the flaw is within the outline of the ogival medallion (upper right hand corner).
