Two million were minted. 1, 270, 000 were melted down. This leaves 730, 000. This one can be yours. Rounded dies give the coin a concave surface. Struck to commemorate the Easter Uprising of 1916. These memorial coins were generally never meant to circulate, and this one never did. Obverse is Padraig Pearse, reverse is a miniature of the sculpture Cú Chulainn by Oliver Sheppard, currently in the General Post Office, Dublin. Compare the o...bverse to the reverse, it is obvious it was displayed reverse up for some time, where the Sulfur in the air could get to it. The pictures are spot on, that's what they are there for. Make your own call, it's the one that counts. I like for you to see what you're getting, as opposed to close your eyes and hope for the best. Five sets; flash for detail, tilted toward the light for contrast, and natural diffuse daylight for color range. Four is tilt with flash to prove mint bloom. See the bright regions to left and right? They are light bouncing back of microscopic ridges formed when the metal flows under die pressure. They are the first to wear down with circulation. They are not worn down. That coin did not circulate. Five is from the side to show the concave surface, best I can. Very impressive design, it can be yours. 18.1 Grams 0.833 Silver, 30.5 mm Diameter.
