This vintage Zippo lighter has the graphic of the Esso aviation fuel logo. (Esso Gas and Oil)Bottom is marked BRADFORD PA. Zippo (in Zorro lettering) PAT.The Zippo is in Zorro style lettering. There are no hashes or dots. Thus the date is probably 1955 or 1956.The insert is marked ZIPPO MFG CO. BRADFORD, PA. MADE IN ZIPPO U.S.A. PAT. 2517191 R PAT. PEND.
Very good condition consistent with moderate continual use. A couple of small dings in the top.Flin...t is stored in the case, you will find it when you pull out the insert.Measures ~ 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 x 1/2 in

My mother worked for Standard Oil, later Esso, and either my uncle, who was a pilot during the war got it for her, or she got it for him.
