The letter stand depicts an owl sitting on a branch to the front, whilst a baby owlet or little owl letter opener sits atop and behind a column or post on it's designated holder to the back.The whole showing lovely characterful detail and quality craftsmanship in its manufacture, being of a good quality solid heavy gauge brass and believed to date to the late Victorian, Edwardian period or thereabouts c1900 - 1920 .Impressed foundry description and number to the underside of the stands base reading ' 14472 RACK ' whilst the matching little owl letter knife also has an impressed identification number which reads ' 74 'The stand has been lightly polished whilst still showing a nice patina with the whole being a tactile item to touch, hold and to handle, due to it's age, years of use and quality craftsmanship, most especially tactile is the letter opener, paper knife.Measures ; ( 14cm ) 5.1/2" inches highBase measures ( 10.2cm ) 4" inches across x ( 5cm ) 2" inches wide.Letter opener, paper knife measures ( 9.7cm ) 3.7/8Weighs 237grms = approx 8.1/2ozsIn superb condition with no damage, chips, cracks or restoration and with the many pictures showing it's condition where it can be judged on it's own merit, so please do enlarge and check these out carefully if it is of interest. VINTAGE ANTIQUE BRASS OWL & LITTLE OWL LETTER HOLDER STAND LETTER KNIFE DESK TOP WRITING DESK An extremely cute sweet and unusual letter holder, with matching letter opener, paper knife. The letter stand depicts an owl sitting on a branch to the front, whilst a baby owlet or little owl letter opener sits atop and behind a column or post on it's designated holder to the back.
The whole showing lovely characterful detail and quality craftsmanship in its manufacture, being of a good quality solid heavy gauge brass and believed to date to the late Victorian, Edwardian period or thereabouts c1900 - 1920 .
Impressed foundry description and number to the underside of the stands base reading ' 14472 RACK ' whilst the matching little owl letter knife also has an impressed identification number which reads ' 74 '
