                                                        RARE 18TH C NEW ENGLAND WOOD HANGING LANTERN
A FANTASTIC "UNTOUCHED" EARLY 18TH CENTURY WOOD NO GLASS IN HANGING LANTERN,  New England, Probably Connecticut, Circa 1740-1760 in untouched old ORIGINAL  SURFACE and PATINA.

A FANTASTIC PIECE OF EARLY LIGHTING. NOT MANY OF THESE GLASS AND WOOD LANTERNS HAVE SURVIVED OVER THE YEARS,  ESPECIALLY THE EARLY 18TH CENTURY EXAMPLES.
MADE IN THE EARLY MANNER, IT DOES NOT HAVE A SWINGING DOOR, BUT RATHER A TWO GROOVE SLIDING GLASS SIDE NO GLASS IN IT.
ALSO, IT DOES NOT HAVE A ATTACHED CANDLE CUP BUT RATHER A WOODEN PEG FORT A CANDLE OR YOU WOULD USE A SMALL CANDLESTICK.
