At the WORLD STAMP SHOW Exhibition in New York City from 28 May to 4 June, 2016, Pitcairn Islands re-issued the 2014 Albatross "Giants of the Sky" souvenir sheet with an OVERPRINT above the middle stamp (see images).
The right-side image shows the ORIGINAL 2014 souvenir sheet, which was on sale for 2 years, from 28 Feb. 2014 to 27 Feb. 2016. Due to the die-cut nature of the souvenir sheet, the 1500 unsold sheets could not be normally overprinted, and the NY Stamp Show logo and details were applied by a screen-print method.
PHILATELIC MAGAZINES, THE PITCAIRN ISLANDS STUDY GROUP, AND PHILATELIC BUREAU CONFIRM ONLY 1, 500 SHEETS WERE OVERPRINTED.The albatross seabirds are depicted in a joined strip of three within the souvenir sheet. They are (left to right on the sheet): The Wandering Albatross, the Black-browed Albatross, and Buller's Albatross, also known as Buller's Mollymawk.
