Vintage Milspec AGM American Gas Machine Co Lantern, 1945 WWII USA No GlobeIn 1945 American Gas Machine Company were one of the first to produce the Milspec Lantern. This latern was attained from the home of a WWII Veteran and can only be assumed it was in service during war time and kept as a momento. Normally with most lanterns we prepare for market, we do a full inspection and test. This lantern however is being left in it's current condition to be rebuilt or restored by the buyer. ...We were able to get pressure and a flame from the mantle, however there is a leak from the jam nut at the bottom of the generator and the assumption should be that in order to properly use this lantern, a full break down and part replacement is in order.Parts for Milspec lanterns are readily available. The early productions of Milspec lanterns such as this example used a single piece of glass for a globe, but quad glass can also be easily attained as a replacement. We do not believe the fount contains any stress fractures but we do recommend a dunk test to be sure. Please assume any, and everything may need to be replaced or worked on with this lantern.Please view the photos for aesthetic condition. This is truly a rare milspec lantern. We are typically Coleman fans, but when we saw the USA 1945 stamp on the bottom, we couldnt pass this one up! It stands as a testament to history, and a different time when Made In America was a stamp of pride and the items that were manufactured with that stamp would last a couple lifetimes.This is your chance to bring one of these rare first production Milspecs back to life!We always do a quick once over clean before bringing a lantern to market. Although this lantern was not broken down, we feel confident any modest collector can put a wrench to it and breath life back into it. They are extremely dangerous and it is up to the user to ensure proper safety measures when operation is attempted. The lantern does have an old mantle in the parts storage chamber.
