An original Civil War letter including the cover. It looks like it is dated 1863 from Camp Jordan New Bern North Carolina. In one area it says, ............others are guarding the rail road from new bern to Morehead City and that looks as if there were not much to be done till next fall, for the Rebels cant march in hot weather any better then we can. There has been another Expedition up the Rail Road some of the troops were left at ...Cois Creek and the advance went with in 10 miles of Kinston took 2 Batteries and 100 Prisoners this is the report but wether it is true or not I dont know I had a few lines form Geo Coffin last week he says thay have a beautiful camp side of the rail road and also a cool breeze from the ocean............
