The flyers used B-25 bombers that were stripped of mostequipment and heavily loaded with fuel. They had to launch early because anenemy picket vessel discovered their battle group closing on their homeislands. The mission did bomb Tokyo and then the flyers had to land whereverthey ran out of fuel, mostly in China. The group of survivors were in their late80s and early 90s when they had their last annual reunion in November 2013.The last one died in 2019.
