Antique or Vintage Chinese Rank Badge or Mandarin Square of a Peacock
This is an old Chinese textile reflecting the third rank of a male civil servant. The animal is a peacock and the stitches are varied, including gold couched threads. The piece is from the late Qing to perhaps the end of the1930's. It was in a very old tray with brass handles when it came into my possession. The square ...measures 11" x 11".
