This is a Japanese sword suicide tanto in mountings. The blade is signed "Nagasada 永貞", hira-zukuri shape, Edo period ca.1800 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with konie active temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. ... The forging grain is tight itame-hada, no opening and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is urushi lacquered wood scabbard with kizami, no crack, no dent, no lacquer loss and in mint condition. The handle is tight fit with kiri mon menuki, no crack, no dent and in good condition. It measures 6+5/8" cutting edge, 20 mm width, 6 mm thickness at the notch and 11+1/2" in mountings.
