If there is any question, please d...on't hesitate to email us and ask!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is a beautiful vintage piece of exceptional quality, made by FIscher in France (on behalf of Sabatier), and imported to this country through Rowoco. It's unusual in the fact it's one of the largest steels imported to this country from France, and one of the largest French pieces of this size you're likely to come across. It's tang-stamped above handle with "Fischer Marque Deposee, " and "Made in France." I don't know why, but for some reason, Sabatier always jobbed their sharpening steels out to be manufactured by other companies, perhaps because they could do a much better job. This is a fine vintage piece, dating to sometime during the 1950's--70's, as evidenced by the black japanning of the turned wooden handle and aluminum bolster and pommel with pommel ring. It's nice and long, measuring 19" overall with a 12" rod--perfect for keeping a razor's hone on everything from your most dainty paring knife to your most XXXL chef's knife--like the ones we're also selling now on ebay. It's quite capable of sharpening ANY of the largest or smallest knives in your kitchen or butcher shop. It's used but still in excellent condition, and has been properly maintained throughout its long life. Japanning is fully intact--rare for a piece of this age. International packages cannot be insured and we cannot be held responsible for packages lost or damaged in transit (we pack very well, but shipping overseas is strictly at buyer's risk). Want tracking? You will have to pay an additional $13.65 for Registered Mail or you may upgrade to the option of Express Mail International. IMPORTANT: After TWELVE YEARS of doing everything we could to hold the line on int'l. shipping costs, we have taken our LAST loss, so we've been forced to implement a new policy in which Shipping costs on ANY international parcel sold for over $75 will now include a required $13.65 Registered Mail fee in order to make your purchase trackable. This is 100% non-negotiable. The cost will be factored into the posted shipping costs of any item that STARTS at $75 or more, but if you purchase several items, the charge will have to be added at the end.
