Memoriesto cherish forever! What an exceptional find! This is a nice sizedyellow gold 14K Gold Filled locket, fully hallmarked around one of the insideframes. There is also a maker's mark.The pictures have not faded, there are some wear lines, commensurate with its age and being aroundthe neck of the cherished girl who wore it. The “bright” engraveddesign on the front is beautiful and even a has a cartouche forinitialing. The back of the... locket tells “the story”. Engraved“Love to Jimmie, From Earl”. Given to his sweetheart as heembarks into the Navy during World War II.Ilove this vintage locket with pictures of Jimmie's sweetheart Earl, in his finest 1940's style suit and tie and then, proudly in his U.S.Navy uniform. Just looking at these 2 pictures says so much! I wantto believe that Earl came back to Jimmie at the end of the war. Fromthe top of its bale to the bottom, it hangs off a chain 1-3/8 inches.At its widest, ¾ of an inch. In very good vintage condition, welltaken care of and loved! A NOTE about its being shut. When Ireceived it, it was shut, tightly closed. It was very hard to open, Icracked my nail but finally got it open and WOW what a wonderfulsmile came on my face as I discovered these 2 vintage pictures of asweetheart going off to WW II. I think it has been shut all theseyears and the environmental dust and debris had gotten into theclosure mechanism. I am sending it to you “opened”. I think itjust needs a good cleaning. We never clean or alter vintage items. Iwould suggest taking it to a jeweler to clean and ensure it opens andcloses easily.Ifyou collect one-of-a-kind WWII memorabilia, vintage lockets or thishas just touched your heart, you will want to add this keepsake toyour collections.
