Beautiful Antique Rose Gold Cameo Necklace with Greek Key Pattern--circa 1880's?
Excellent condition with only minor wear and some tarnishingNo markings noticed--I am not an antique jewelry expert so I cannot vouch for whether the piece is rose gold plated or not, but color has pinkish hue with yellow gold variations on pendantCameo is right-facing, and appears to be sardonyx and shellPendant is very intricate with deeply encased leaves and a textured background.Cameo is surrounded ...by rose and gold-colored leaves and lovely embellishmentsAn invisible clasp connects on the side of the pendant and closes with a click.The length of the chain is about 16" when not fastened. Chain appears to have a Greek key design--I am unsure of the metal but it is gold color. I received a comment from an Ebay viewer that the chain appears to be a retro vintage replacement and not original to the piece. Because I am not a jewelry expert, I cannot vouch for this information.Pendant measures about 1 1/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall
This is a remarkable old piece that is quite beautiful. It would benefit from some gentle cleaning, and will make quite a statement piece when worn. Perfect for the cameo collector or collector of Victorian pieces.
