This is a wonderful, original document group of three items, from Rowse Clark, Surgeon of the 34th Massachusetts Infantry, includes a large Invoice of Medical Supplies  and Stores issued to Surgeon Rowse R. Clark of the 34th Massachusetts Infantry...signed by Surgeon Christopher C. Cox at lower right. Document is 15x22, overall very good condition. Second document id a packer's list of stores for Rowse while at Harper's Ferry...three pages, 8x14, unsigned. Third document is a... receipt of various medical supplies invoices to Surgeon Rowse...signed at closing by Henry D.Patton as quartermaster. Document is 8x14, folds, three pages, overall good condition. A nice surgeon's grouping.Christopher Christian Cox (August 28, 1816 – November 25, 1882)was known as an American surgeon, professor at Philadelphia College of Medicine and served briefly as a politician.He was Professor of Medical Jurisprudence at the Philadelphia College of Medicine from 1848 to 1849 and became Professor of Obstetrics and Diseases of Women and Children in 1849. In 1857 and 1857 Cox was president of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland. In 1861 he became a surgeon in the United States Army, leaving in 1862.Cox served as the first Lieutenant Governor of Maryland from 1865 to 1868. The relatively new office was abolished in 1868 and not reinstated until 1970, upon which the next lieutenant governor,  Blair Lee III, was elected. Re-creation of the office involved an amendment to the Maryland Constitution of 1867, which had superseded the 1864 constitution under which the office was initially established.Rowse R. ClarkeResidence Whitinsville MA; a 42 year-old Surgeon.Enlisted on 7/3/1862 as a Surgeon.On 7/7/1862 he was commissioned into Field & Staff MA 34th Infantry He was Mustered Out on 6/16/1865 at Richmond, VAHenry D.
