This small planimeter by Crosby Steam Gage & Valve Co. is interesting for a couple reasons. First, it has no multiplier wheel, just the tracing wheel and vernier. This limits it to measuring only very small areas, but if that is its intended use, it also reduces the cost. The other interesting thing is that the planimeter is marked “Swiss Manufacture”, which you can take to mean “Amsler”.
This planimeter is in good condition but quite dirty,... as you can see in the pictures.
This adding machine is from the collection of Robert K. (“Bob”) Otnes, PhD, one of the founding members of the Oughtred Society and the original editor of the Journal of the Oughtred Society. It is being sold by the Oughtred Society on his behalf.
