Beautiful early part of the 1900's A-Fork or Slick Fork high back square skirted saddle with border tooling and rear nail pouch. I believe this to be a US Cavalry issued packer saddle as both fenders are stamped US. The seat measures out to approx. 15.5" seat and sits deep. Good fleece and the tree/horn are solid. Saddle overall shows signs of normal use and age such as some checking and scratches in spots. The nail pouch needs the keeper tacked down on one side. Beyond that the b...uyer may choose to do some further detailing and conditioning, otherwise the leather is quite clean and pliable still. I love these old square skirted slick forks and I'm sure this one has many stories to tell. Sure to add nicely to your collection.
