EUSTACE COPPER An Arts & Crafts copper plaque with the seal of St. Mawes to the centre, probably by Charles Eustace. Stamped 'ST. MAWES 1368'. Diameter 39cm. Note: A number of these plaques have been seen with seals of various Cornish towns & are attributed to Charles Eustace by style & workmanship.
Surrounded... on the Rim with Fish and St. Mawes Seal in the centre.
Charles Eustace was at one time a wages clerk with Pool's factory but in the late 1930 set up a copperworks with John Eustace in Hayle to revive the craft of coppersmithing.
Brilliant Craftsmen. They revised Cornwall Copper making into an Art, Their work often passes through auction Houses and sold by dealers.
St Mawes is a small town opposite Falmouth, on the Roseland Peninsula on the south coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies on the east bank of the Carrick Roads, a large waterway created after the Ice Age from an ancient valley which flooded as the melt waters caused the sea level to rise dramatically
