Ultra Rare, Wireless Top-of-the-line SONY Walkman WM-805. Walkman’s History Icon: Unique Design & Wireless Capability.1990 Model - First Walkman Ever to Offer Wireless Remote Control.
SONY released a few players that made history for being one of the most advanced players at the time, thanks to the combination of a very small size, advanced electronics and feather touch buttons, high quality sound thanks to the EX Amorphous head, the brand new Mega Bass System (2x bass ex...pansion) ALSO CALLED EX DBB, and other cool features.
As we get further and further away from playing music from physical media, it's easy to forget just how far technology has actually progressed.
WM-805 : First Walkman Ever to Offer Wireless Remote Control.
In 1988, Sony unveiled a remarkably small unit, the WM-505. It was a wireless device. That's right, 20 years before Bluetooth you could jam out to your mix tapes without getting tangled up in cords.
Only 2 years after Sony released its top-of-the-line wireless Walkman and the most revolutionary wireless Walkman at the time - the WM-805!
This is a true collector's item, as Sony has now moved aggressively into the world of digital audio players.
The WMK-805 introduced IC logic, feather touch controls on a wireless device.
The whole thing is pretty damn small for a Walkman from 1990, and is impressive for both its early wireless-ness, and for the engineering acumen needed to make something so compact.
This versatile device works with or without wireless receiver meaning that you can just plug any regular earphones and enjoy its amazing sound.

HIGHLIGHTS:
• Unique ultra modern design different from any other Walkman you have ever seen - with sleek curves and smooth design details and accents.
• Use it wirelessly or with regular earphones. It features an input jack compatible with any headphones (no remote needed).
• Equipped with an automated songs search, by detecting their beginning (and the silent space between tracks), AMS (Automatic Music Sensor) can skip through songs by simply pressing the FF/REW button during Play.
• The sound fluctuation caused by the dynamic characteristics of vibrations (while walking or subjected to movement) has been noticeable reduced via a more precise and rigid tape transport.
• Equipped with an A-side / B side display function, you won’t have to guess which side you are playing and avoid distractions while trying to ascertain what song belong to a specific side.
• Unique to this Walkman - a very clever standby function.
• The unit sports an EX amorphous head. To keep the angle of the head and the tape at a constant level this model has adopted the EX mechanism with a special tape guide.
• An EX DBB equipped (Dynamic Bass Boost) circuit is also present - able to emphasize the bass frequency of 50Hz up to 16 times. Automatically adjusts the amount of emphasis depending on the level of volume knob at an y specific time. In addition it prevents the delicate tremble response to be lost by varying the amount of linear amplification depending on the volume changes of the original sound.

WALKMAN’s COSMETIC CONDITION:
This top of the line Wireless Walkman has been kept in great condition.Only slight scuffing is present in very small areas and a semi-visible scratch on facade (only perceptible under some light conditions).
- The tape transport area and head are in excellent condition - all perfectly pristine. - The amorphous head shines as when it was new.- The battery compartment and closing function are in good condition.- All the controls maintain their original feather touch attributes and function as originally intended.- The frontal tape door mechanism is sound all around and closes tightly.
The earphones are NEW. The organically-shaped carrying case is still in very in good condition.
WALKMAN’s WORKING CONDITION:
The unit powers up as soon as an energy source is connected and any key is pressed. The motor trying to engage can be heard but no playback action is observed. This is very likely to be a belt replacement issue.
Energy conduction is otherwise active and working since any battery or external power will activate the unit once a function is engaged - and the LED lights turns on (please see photo).
