British Museum example said to be made in around the 16th or 17th Century. The example being auctioned here has a similar character / style, however I am not knowledgeable enough on the subject of soapstone figures to know if this one was also made during the end of the Ming reign.
DIMENSIONS
Height: - 10.5 cm (4 1/8 inches)
Width: - 7 cm (2 6/8 inches)Weight: - 256 g (0.56 lb / 9 oz)
CONDITION:
Good Original Condition - No Repairs, No Restorations, No Breaks, just some general scuffs to the colour decoration, a small thin chip to his thumb (hand holding the scroll) and another couple of small chips to the long cuff of his sleeve (hard to spot, but feels rough) plus some scratches, as you would expect from a piece of this period. Please study my detailed photos, this craving is of a very high quality.
