This Auction is for a Vintage Desk Set by Asprey & Co. Ltd. England circa 1930's.Each of the pieces to the set is Gilt stamped "ASPREY & Co. Ltd. London".The Desk set is made of tooled & gilt mottled brown leather and consists of a 2 Pen Holder with built in deep pen tray and hinged wooden lined card box - overall size 11 5/8 inches long by 7 3/4 inches wide, a good size Desk Blotter - 6 3/4 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide by 3 5/8 inches tall a...nd a covered Desk Pad - 9 3/4 inches long by 6 1/2 inches wide, made to hold an approximate 8 1/4 by 4 1/2 inch note pad.The set is in good condition with NO Monograms and wear consistent with age and use.There are several bumps and one small piece of leather missing to the leather finish - most notably on the front of the pen holder and the edge of the desk pad - please see close-up photo - plus there are several round glass water marks and drops - notably one on the card box top and one on the pad cover - but to me this just adds character to this near 100 year old set.Unfortunately, the two original pens have gone missing, but finding suitable replacements should not be too difficult.The only leather wear that concerns me is the leather hinge for the pad cover - it is still working fine, but is showing wear; however, I believe a good leathersmith could make a virtual invisible repair / replacement hinge - please see close-up photo.A vintage Asprey set like this, if you could find one, would retail through the finer Antique dealers for in excess of $4, 000.Please see my other items!GENERAL AUCTION LISTING TERMS & CONDITIONS: PLEASE NOTE: None of us like paying shipping costs; unfortunately it is a necessary evil in the world of internet sales and with new labour settlements, the costs for shipping are up considerably from even 1 YEAR ago, but please note, we DO NOT make any money on shipping - we only charge for CANADA POST SHIPPING RATES plus the cost of packing materials (peanuts, bubblewrap and box) – with NO HANDLING CHARGE - For all buyers outside of Canada PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that this will be INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING which is MORE EXPENSIVE than your domestic shipping and due to possible CUSTOMS Clearance Delays and the extra DISTANCE for the parcel to Travel - the Delivery will normally take LONGER THAN FOR DOMESTIC SHIPPING - for shipping costs please see the shipping quote as shown in the listing.
