Pattern 48 was used by the Kabo Corset Company of Chicago.
Vending & Affixing machine stamps were used in the early 1900s by the high volume mailers of the day. In late 1909 the Schermack Mailing Machine Company added a perfin feature to some of their affixing machines to identify the owner for added security. The perfin was punched one stamp at a time just prior to the stamp be cut from the coil and affixed ...to the envelope
