Title: Antique Tea CaddyDescription:Presented for your consideration is this beautiful and unusual early antique tea caddy (or box). The caddy is a wooden box encrusted with seashells on the exterior. The seashells range in size, color and shape. On the front of the box the shells are arranged into a medallion in the center with a flower on each side of the medallion. The shells are arranged into a large white flower in the center of the sides and the back. The lid has very tiny s...hells in the center with layered circles around the center and small white flowers in each corner. The shells are securely attached to the box. The front of the box has a key hole for a lock but no key is included. Unsure if the lock is in working condition or not. The lid of the box easily opens and closes. Inside of the box is a single open compartment with a lid. The lid is painted silver and easily comes on and off of the base. No markings are on the caddy to indicate an artist or region of origin. Guaranteed to be old. Dates to the mid 1800s. This rare tea caddy would make a great addition to any shell art, maritime themed or tea caddy collection!
Several of the smaller shells have broken off of the exterior over the years. Please refer to the photos to see where the shells have come off. One of the back corners of the lid has a small chip our of it. Typical light wear is on the interior. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition for its age. Sold AS FOUND.
