Superb quality genuine 140+ year old example, (definitely not a modern re-production), a good size with a hinged lid and push button lid opener and it is all-over decorated with beautiful faux shell which has a wonderful colour. The edge rims are lined in sheet cow-bone and inside it has its original blue silk lining with a clean concertina card holder with 9 separate compartments. It has a decorative engraved sterling silver cartouche on the front which has no added personal engravings. Looks only little used.Measurements Measures approx. 4.25 inches (108mm) x 3 inches (77mm) and is 0.65 inches (17mm) deep.Date English antique 19th Century Victorian, 100% guaranteed genuine antique, dating from around 1865-1875.Condition Excellent condition, with no repairs and the beautiful faux blond tortoiseshell covering is in superb condition, with no losses and it has a wonderful natural colouring. The lid hinge still works well and the interior blue silk lining and concertina card compartments are all in lovely condition with no staining. There are no added engraved monograms in the cartouche. A beautiful example.
