Antique ships compass enclosed in a copper dome with a glass window and brass mounting base. The lamp box on the side has and adjustable brass cap on the chimney to adjust flame, I do not have a lamp with it which most likely would have been a whale oil lamp. The gimbal mount compass was made by Christie and Wilson and printed Glasgow which means it could have been made in Scotland with a number 10062 on it. The last picture in the group ...was before it was cleaned, I didn't want to over clean and take all the patina away but wanted you to see before and after. Does have a ding on top was going to try and take it out but it adds character and age so I left it alone. Sizes are Brass base ring 9 1/2" cylinder is 8" height is 10 1/2" widest point to the side of lamp is 11" with a weight of 12lbs. No bids from Alaska, Hawaii or foreign countries with out prior message so that correct postage can be added.
I deal in old collectibles, unique items, and antiques and most generally they show age and ware from the years of use. So please ask questions, look closely at pictures, the decision to bid is yours not mine. Thanks for looking. Ken Walnut House Antiques
