This is a Trumpet Mouthpiece, designed and made by LEGEND Frank Zottola. It is a model # 62A, made in Port Chester NY... an extremely RARE, let alone VINTAGE Cushion Rim Trumpet Mouthpiece, that never comes to the marketplace! Collectors tend to retain and covet them, which makes this one very valuable...a Treasure as a collectible...or...a treat to play. Mr. Zottola was a highly accomplished musician, arranger, conductor and legendary mouthpiece maker. H...e was a true blue original in that he innovated functional designs in ways that were never before conceived...and they worked! All of his mouthpieces were hand made, so that in truth the exact sizes of any of his limited models are never quite the same as any the others he made. This particular mouthpiece, when measured with digital calipers equals a Bach 10 1/2C, with a #27 Throat. NOW...this mouthpiece has several other unique, unusual and distinct features; 1.) It has a flat semi-wide Cushion Rim surrounded by a heavy outer bowl for increased resonance. 2.) The BACKBORE is an exclusive feature that Mr. Zottola invented, created and used in his manufacturing process. It is a step-down interior decent on the inner walls, resembling a waterfall. The sound literally cascades downward, much like rushing water, creating an intensity in both pitch and volume... like nothing you have ever heard or experienced! This Mouthpiece was silver plated a month ago...it has only the most minor of flaws! When contemplating purchasing a vintage mouthpiece...it must have two critical features in place..."Functionality and Investment Value"...this one has both and much more! The Zottola Mouthpieces were in demand in the 1950's...and remain intensely collectible today.
