This beautifully embroidered silk panel measures 54” x 26” overall , 49” x 241/2 “ inside paper border. The embroidery, which is highly skilled work, is in perfect condition. Close study of the photographs shows the great detail and beautiful use of colour throughout and the padding of the flowers . The butterflies are densely embroidered but light and alive and the water at the bottom a particularly nice feature .The background fabric is a firm , closely woven silk, and is in ...very good condition other than the feint stain and watermark shown in the 10 th photograph and one further area of very feint stains. The edges have the remains of a paper border where it was once mounted . The back bears a stamped mark which is difficult to decipher.
