Magnificent intricatelycarved antique Chinese soapstone carving of a lohan monk.The finely hand carvedstatue is of an old lohan holding a bunch of peaches in his hands.On his back is a carvedstraw hat. On his waist is hung a roleof books.All over his flowingrobe is carved with tiny floral and other auspicious design.At his feet is a carved roundbasket.Even the plinth he isstanding on is finely carved.Every detail on thecarving such as his face, his expressions, his hands and his ...feet are very fineand has great proportion.Lohan monks are alsocalled Arhats, they are disciples of buddha.This is a very finelohan and is the only one I have.Bought in China a longtime ago.Measurement: 7 cm (L) x9 cm (W) x 19.5 cm (H)Weight: 1.1 kilogramme
