Very Rare, Vintage Eames Era Hanging Oil Rain Lamp with a boy and girl on a working swing. This model was introduced in 1978 by Creators Inc of Chicago, Illinois. This lamp is sometimes called the "Tom Saw...yer and Becky Thatcher" on a swing lamp.
-36 inches in height-14 inches around-Suspends from a brass link chain 12 feet in length. -The off/on switch, (thumb wheel style) is located on the electrical cord. Lamp cord is original and in great condition.
When the lamp is turned on the swing goes into motion back and forth and the oil flows down the lines, in rain like droplets. The swing with the kids measures approximately 8 inches in length.
CONDITION: I think this lamp was well cared for, it still has the original stickers as you can see in the photos. As you can see in the video/pics the oil in this lamp looks older/thicker. There are 3-5 strands where the oil does not flow down great, but I believe this will be an easy fix of cleaning/unclogging the little holes that the lines thread through. When I drain this to ship, I will also clean to the best of my ability the stray oil and gunk that has collected over the years. Please let me know if you want more pictures or particular pictures. I only took a short video because I didn’t want to run the older oil through the lamp any more than I had to and risk gunking it up. Perhaps with new oil all of the strands will work without any hassle. This lamp will work as is (minus the 3-5 strands that oil does not run down), but I think the buyer will want to give it a good cleaning as it is a little gunky and oily.
