The Philadelphia Bowl by Wedgewood was made exclusively for Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelers in Philadelphia, Pa. It is a creamware bowl, 12 inches in diameter, 5 1/2 " high, decorated in Williamsburg Sepia. The drawing inside the bowl is taken from a historic Oil Paining by Robert Price "congress Voting Independence", which hangs in the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. The other drawings are taken from oil paintings by John A. Woodside, William Strickland, August Kolene...r anhd a group of independence Hall Buildings from the Columbia Magazine of January 1790. The border repeats the incription form the Liberty Bell - with a federal design inspired by the First Troop Philadelphia City Calvary. The leaves represent some of the street names of Colonial Philadelphia - Chestnut, Walnut, Cherry and Mulberry. Everyone who values the historic role Philadelphia has played in the history of the country, the Philadelphia Bowl will want to own this cherished heirloom.
