Lighter is very heavy; it is possible that is was a defused grenade before it was transformed into a lighter. Old thumb wheel lighter fitment. 5-3/8"H, 2-1/2" in diameter at the base. I have not fueled or fired this lighter, however with the addition of fuel, I believe the lighter can be put in working condition. From an eBayer: I agree probably a real grenade casing, but may never have been live grenade. some companies made them into other things when the wars were not raging. Th...is body is from a MK2 grenade, in service from 1918 until the mid 1960's and in some places, much later. If the fitment is original to it, it was made well prior to WW2, could be anywhere from 1919 to 1942, probably in the 20s or 30s since thats the era of that kind of fitment.
