This sturdy Depression Era chest of drawers is a window in history. Standing 44" tall, this piece is made of sapwood walnut with an applied, artful burlwood moulding affixed to the first main drawer as well as waterfall style veneer on the top two smaller drawers.There are spool-like mouldings on the front edges and along the base. The piece has high legs with the bun feet seem commonly in 19th century pieces, as well has hand-cut dove joinery and a low back splash. There are incised c...arvings framing the front of the piece that echo the soft curved mouldings on the base. There are five drawers, total, with two small lingerie drawers on top and three large drawers beneath. Each drawer has a gorgeous aged brass pull with the large drawers having two a piece. This piece has been through the Great Depression and it does show. There is slight water damage on the front of the two bottom-most drawers where the veneer is starting to separate. There are also the requisite scratches and scuffs on the top surface and feet. These are all age and use appropriate and do not affect the piece's structural integrity or historical charm.
